Keep accountable to your marketing plan

How are your business’s new year’s resolutions going? If your goal in 2020 is to give your marketing a bit more love, then this one’s for you.

Do you have a strategy in place?

Have you developed a strategy for what you’d like to get out of your marketing this year and how to get there? If not, this is the first place you should start.

Creating a collection of achievable goals that work towards a larger, overarching one ensures you feel less overwhelmed about your marketing and more excited to kick goals along the way!

For example, if your goal is to be more active on social media in 2020 then break it down into 3 smaller ones:

  1. Create a calendar of all key dates and promos – schedule these ahead of time
  2. Aim to post at least once a day on your feed/stories
  3. Attend a social media course or webinar to learn Facebook Advertising

Save the date!

Keep accountable to your marketing plan by treating marketing initiatives just like birthdays, anniversaries and appointments – diarise them! Set up calendar reminders for your marketing plans such as going live on Facebook, scheduling posts for 2 hours, printing brochures, launching promotions or writing a new blog post. That way, you’ve already allocated the time in your diary to complete them.

Know when to hold them, know when to fold them

The best bit about setting marketing goals? They can change!

If you’ve allocated time and energy to a marketing initiative that isn’t delivering results, then it’s time to update your goals.

Keep accountable to yourself and your business by ensuring you’re focusing your energy on initiatives that deliver. Review your goals and their progress quarterly.

A goal without a plan is just a wish! Keep going, you’ve got this.
